'QR Codes Get Festive

American clothing store JCPenney has found an exciting new use for QR Codes just in time for Christmas. From this week onwards, when you purchase a present from any JCPenney, you receive a ‘Santa tag’ which is accompanied by a unique QR code. By scanning it, you can then record a personalised voice message for the person you’re giving the present to. Once you’ve that done, just stick the QR code onto the present and send it off.

This thoughtful idea adds a personal element to the QR code, and could convince people that QR codes have more use than simply linking users to a site or video.

Hats off to JCPenney for using technology to spread Christmas cheer!
