The RAF Club Gets Social!

Last September, The RAF Club teamed up with digital agency Brandcast Media to enhance their online presence and set up social channels for The Club from Facebook and Twitter to YouTube and Pinterest.

The Facebook and Twitter pages provide the perfect online communities for members, along with their family and friends, to communicate about upcoming events and share pictures. On a broader level, the Facebook and Twitter places are a great place for anyone interested in The RAF or aviation history in general, to share information, favourite images and historical facts. As soon as the channels were set up, numbers of followers were quick to rise, and The Club has over 400 ‘likes’ on Facebook and more than 600 followers on Twitter!

Brandcast Media also produced three videos for The Club on its new YouTube channel. Most of the filming took place on Battle of Britain Sunday, and we were delighted to interview Squadron leader Geoffrey Wellum and Squadron Leader Patrick Tootal in The Cowderay Room. Another night of filming took place at The Battle of Britain Gala Dinner in October, where Wing Commander Bob Foster and Squadron leader Tony Pickering spoke movingly of their time during The Battle. The RAF Club hope to work with Brandcast Media again during the spring to film the younger generation of officers and women, for whom The Club is such a special place.
